Thank you!

Crossing fingers that the move into Sears for Shoppers Drug Mart happens so that this retail section across from SaskTel can be leased into 2-3 spaces and get some life into this part of the mall.

The second floor of Sears which is currently acting as a pedway basically from the Casino/the Delta to the mall will be shut as of June 11th. PCL has an office set up inside, so it looks like work is going to be starting.

Heard another rumour of Winners/HomeSense for main floor Hamilton Street side and Shoppers Drug Mart/Grocery Store main floor mall side. Haven’t heard about what will be in the second floor broken up section.

Anyone know if the mall owns the Merchant Building on 11th currently used by Regina Transit?

I'm not sure that building could be integrated well with the rest of the mall. Just take a look at the floor plan above. Looks like there's a lot of infrastructure between it and the existing stores. Garbage pickup is behind there too, I think. The build could still be spruced up a bit.

The City owns it.

According to the Grasslands website, we are getting a Lindt store. Judging by the info on Lindt's website, the chocolate store might be in the ground floor of The Residences near Gong Cha. Opening soon, but not sure when.

A HomeSense/Winners (or Marshalls) combo store would be 40,000-60,000 sq ft and could be split across two or more floors.

A Shoppers you typically be 20,000 sq ft or larger now depending mostly on the size of the grocery section. That can also be split over two floors if there is a reason to but they heavily prefer a single floor layout.

It should be possible to lookup the floor sizes on the former Sears store if you search the leasing info of the mall.

Taking a guess the per floor size of Sears was likely 60,000 sq ft to 100,000 sq ft.

It might be a combo like HomeSense/Winners across both floors, Shoppers on the main floor only and smaller retail units on the other part of the second floor fronting onto a permanent version temporary pedway.

Glad to hear we are getting something new, although I can't help but feel this would be really nice on Scarth or Hamilton. Mind you, downtown may not be able to sustain both Lindt and Laura Secord at the moment, and Harden and Huyse didn't last on Scarth either.

According to the internet: 123,000 square feet over two levels. There is also a huge basement. That is going to be tough to rent.

From what I am hearing nothing significant is imminent. Don't expect Shoppers to move. Ideally we would get a Simon's but I am not holding my breath.

Up until recently Simon's has entirely funded its own expansion internally. Considering they just took in outside money for the first time earlier this year and only for a distribution centre expansion unless someone steps to the table with significant funding for store expansion additional stores beyond what has already been announced as coming are currently real long shots.

Link to CTV about funding for Simon's Distribution Center

I wouldn't hold my breath for a Saks or a Nordstrom... but what about their outlet divisions, Saks Off Fifth and Nordstrom Rack?

How about some of the higher-end home goods chains that currently bypass Saskatchewan, like Crate and Barrel, Williams Sonoma, or Restoration Hardware?

The fact Shoppers JUST moved within the mall has made me skeptical it would move again. However, they may be looking at adding a Beauty Boutique.

I heard that the food court is being relocated to the second floor of the old Sears space.

I have never been in the basement, is there potential for a theatre there? If not, it would be great to have some kind of entertainment facility could utilize that space to bring a little more life to downtown in the evening.

That boat has already sailed. The space that Dollarama occupies was once a Famous Players four screen cinema. I don't believe that there is a basement under the former Sears store.

You may be thinking of the Midtown in Saskatoon. They’ve recently put a tax saving proposal to the city and part of their plan was moving the food court upstairs into the former Sears space.

Yep, I don't think Sears had a big basement the way Eatons/The Bay does now.
