Thanks for the link! I have to say a bit grudgingly that I can see some merit. There’s no way anyone else is getting to any of the planned retail on foot, but it looks relatively accessible to the dwellers of the planned buildings, and might not feel terrible to use. Hopefully there is a good foot link from the existing building to the south and this planned building.

I don’t think this qualifies as infill, since this is undeveloped land and most of what is around it is, too. I could be wrong about that, though. The proposal doesn’t seem to use that word.

Meh, not too bad. Always encouraging to see some pedestrian-oriented retail with parking at the rear of the building. This could help to create a little bit of a village center for Hyde Park. And the renderings for the towers certainly look better than the ugly Tricar slab apartment building right beside it.

This proposed project has been quiet for a couple of years now. the garden centre appears to be gone. Is the project dead?

Houses are now being built east of this proposed twin tower project. The land that was occupied by the garden centre. Wonder if this twin tower project has been abandoned?

move the highrises closer to the road. The highrises are so far back, right next to single family housing.

Noticed they aren’t proposing to build the condo buildings and they changed from 3 commercial buildings to 2 with the 2 set back commercial buildings being combined in to 1 larger building.

More details of the commercial part of the project. Think this was in city council to reduce parking spots.

Looks like the rear 2s of this project has structural steel and elevator shaft and stairwells built.

Looks like this company is back with a revised proposal at 978 Gainsborough Rd. Two 20s towers sharing a podium base.

Wow impressive. I wonder if Gainsborough will ever be widened from Hyde Park to Wonderland to support these kinds of dense development.

...Then again, Southdale is still a dinky road that supports similar structures near Colonel Talbot, so I guess not.

The Highland Communities company doesn't appear to have any track record of building anything?? Unless they are the same as a company in Wisconsin that builds seniors apartments. Wondering if this will ever happen. The new plan is impressive which makes me suspect its more of a dream then a reality.
