The modern base on the downhill side isn't that great either. I think, as it was pointed out above, that this is a case of detailing and not entirely low-effort modern versus low-effort recreation. I think EITHER a nice modern base OR a nice recreation base would have been better. Basic massing and window patterning is fine, it falls down in the details.
