Sounds like a store like that would work in the area once a couple of these new major projects are finished!

I could see it. Nice contrast to Walmart, who is apparently expanding their Lougheed Mall store to add more groceries.

So let me get this straight. Is this a seperate proposal and not the same one for Brentwood released a couple of months ago?

I just checked back in the suburban updates thread. That other proposal I was referring to is actually situated on Lougheed and Willingdon kitty corner to this new proposal. Wow! Multiple 60 story proposals in Burnaby? I never thought I'd live to see the day.

Really though? Burnaby's proposals are flying. We already have two major towers U/C and the station square concept showed a 56 storey.

Brentwood would be a great mall to redevelop, I really hope they keep the white "tent" thing though. There's so much land available around it, I hate the huge parking lot. They should expand the mall over the parking lot and connect it to the station, create streetfront retail at willingdon and lougheed, and keep the northern and eastern parking lots as their at-grade lots.

It's got a theatre complex too.
The second level catwalk to the enclosed mall looks cool - If they're smart, it will connect directly from the Brentwood SkyTrain Station to the mall (and add escalators to grade).

It'll be interesting to see how the parking works out - that's a challenging site because of the grade. All the parking garage entrances seem to be from the "main street" rather than directly from Lougheed "diving" into the hillside (like Metropolis at Metrotown).

With the suped-up lifestyle centre approach it isn't as impermeable as Metropolis at Metrotown, so that may be a good thing - the question is whether it'll be a traffic nightmare just to enter the underground parking (but you can probably enter from Beta Ave. as well)

I see "future residential" on the backside of the mall - but no "future commercial".

So where's the bus loop?

Examples being? I can't think of many retailers that 1) could take up that much space and 2) do not already have a presence at Metrotown.

Not thrilled about Walmart, but it fits the area.

Target is supposed to take over the Zellers as well, I believe.

I've seen the Brentwood pdf earlier, I have to say looking at page 23 I'm not a fan of the proposed skyline. The height at Solo seems to follow the Mountain backdrop well as does most of the other towers. The Brentwood proposal just throws it all out of whack. It would be more suited for more towers at ~30 stories, bulkier podiums instead of a tower up to 60 stories. Anyways that's my opinion.
