There is a notice in L'Hermitage for residents that the owners of Q4 in Kitsalano (Italian cuisine) will be opening a restaurant in the retail space next to the Hotel entrance (on Richards Street between the hotel / residential lobby entrance and Georgia Avenue).

I don't recall all the details at the moment, but do remember that they said it would seat about 70.

There had been speculation about that retail space in the building (which has never been occupied by anything other than a sales centre for a brief time once construction was completed). I had been told by the hotel concierge that something was close a few weeks back. But this is the first actual notice with a name attached. I believe the notice indicated it will open late summer or early autumn.

I always thought that would make a spectacular location for a nice restaurant. They could even do Valet parking

We were told years ago that the hotel would be getting a restaurant. It's nice that it's not just Tim Hortons lol

Great!! I long for the day (despite being rather low-income myself) when Vancouver has its own, (probably scaled-down) versions of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills; Fifth Avenue; Yorkville; Kaufingerstrasse in Munich; la Croisette in Cannes .....

We already have a cosmopolitan city, but there's too much emphasis, on hot dogs, hamburgers, souvenir shops, and the like.

I noticed that the old Chapmans store on the SE corner of Pender and Howe wasn't empty for long it's now Snowflake. I'm guessing Snowflake is no longer in Hotel Van are they?

They were last time I saw. I don't know how they can sell Winter coats in Summer. The rent must not be cheap, either

Here is some fairly big news!!! the old ritz carlton show room on Alberni and Thurlow has been leased. I am not aloud to disclose the tenant but It is a high end clothing store. The space is 4700 square feet. I am looking forward to seeing Alberni develop into a high end street.

Hmmm. I can't think of a high end clothing store that would need that space

Then again, I don't know much about high end clothing.

I still hate that building and I can wait until it's destroyed and replaced with something nice and tall.

Plus a long time ago wasn't it some sort of Sports store?

Looks like the Commune Cafe, 'Friends who Eat Together, Stay Together' will be opening soon on the NW Corner of the LEVEL building on Seymour.

Apart from the height, the cladding on that building is some of the sleekest (high tech looking) in town.

I'm not overly optimistic about that one. I believe they should have done more than a lottery system, and actually figure out what people want... and is actually good.

its a joke the way they did it - they wanted to be "fair" so they did the lottery

now we are a week away and some of the winners who got licenses don't even have carts or business plans in place so it will be interesting to see what happens

it sucks cause there were a number of food cart people really ready to go with experience and they didn't win the lottery spot

and come on - Lemonade - really - who wants that crap in january in vancouver it belongs at the rodeo in july thats about it

Yup - that whole block from Burrard Building to 1090 West Georgia has no view cone. Multiple ownership of the 3 buildings on the blcok will probably prevent a megaproject in the near term.
