Is it just me, or is Hendrix highrise/skyscraper out of sync with the rest of the community. I, for one, am very disappointed with the planning committee. This building would be so much more at home closer to Jasper Avenue. I mean really, the surrounding buildings are dwarfed in comparison. I can accept high density in the neighborhood but this is absurd. As far as I am concerned, the whole of city council should be fired for allowing this to happen.
And the Hendrix is many, many parking stalls short. Yes, yes I know, the shortfall is supposed to encourage use of the LRT. Of course it must also be noted that the less parking stalls built the more savings for the developer. So, now where will the renters, with cars and no stall, park them? On the street is my guess. If they ever rent the 260 units (Is that right?...260.... wasn't the original agreement 256?) surface street parking will become a nightmare.
Lastly, let's talk curb appeal. The townhomes do look stylish but please don't look up! The finishing on the 29 story (or is it 31?) tower looks like the cheapest of cheap grey metal (?) tiling. I wonder if our illustrious city council was aware that the builder was going to finish the tower with this type of panel.
I think this is a sad, sad day for all nearby residents of the Hendrix. But of course no one on city council really cares what we citizens think.
