Yes, nice and intense! Thanks for sharing this beautiful compilation. Enjoyed.

I had never seen the memorial of Shanksville, PA before. That´s a very moving place.

Happy New Year and greetings from Madrid, Spain.

I hadn't seen that either. Thanks for the pictures (and the entire thread!)

Nice pictures! You toured more of the Midwest than I remembered. Your Iowa pictures were fun to look at.

Thanks for the comments.

@ Little A - which building?

I stopped by Shanksville the Sunday before the 12th anniversary of 9/11. I will admit it was an emotional visit for me. The day was gray and the place is rather isolated, very somber. To me this place had a special signifigance. It marks the time when Americans started fighting back against the 9/11 terrorists through the actions of "ordinary" citizens.

For those intested, here's a few more pics from my visit:

The 4 story apartment building directly in front of the Lutheran church in the first Moline picture is where I live currently. Although at the time you took these I was most likely still living in Rock Island. You were standing practically just below my old apartment in the second R.I. photo.

Well hit me with a sack of potatoes and call me Arnold! What fantastic pics, especially the Iowa ones! I didn't knew Iowa had such an abundance of rich architecture. Replace the cars in the third photo with 1930s vehicles and you have a movie set.
