I have a million ideas that need to be presented properly, which is why today I downloaded Thea Render demo version and present my very first attempt at rendering.

It sucks but that's to be expected....

My 2nd rendering attempt--this time stripped down with no added textures other than glazing. This is a modest loft proposal--17s--for the NE corner of Richmond & Spadina, Toronto.

I'm going to try out a bunch of rendering programs. Thea is great but my desktop pc is too slow and I'm not the patient sort. I will master it though as it's a great skill to have if you're a fantasy architect like myself.

Location: 50'x100' lot on Queen Street West (Toronto) near Soho Street.
Concept: Affordable infill development -- 6 storeys: CRU at grade, 6th floor setback with terrace. Basic materials--glass, aluminum window wall and concrete with slightly interesting "kinky & colourful" aluminum spandrel panels.

The kind of thing that should be going up along King Street K-W, Hamilton, etc. Cladding, height, deets could change, but the key is easy straight forward designs with a bit of "sex appeal" to get the ball rolling.

TV Condos would take over that ugly City TV parking lot near Queen & John:

Apologies for the Thea Render advertisement but so far it's working great with my basic settings and I've had too little time to try out the new Kerkythea.

Anyhow, here's another look at my--ie NimbyTect--alternative plan for the "Live Work Play" downtown Winnipeg condo tower proposal by Mady & Kirkor Architects--what I'm calling "Nimby the Poo" if you get my ref awesome

Here is the near finalized Smith Street podium facade (office, live/work loft units) minus the retail at grade. For context, this facade faces an historic greystone Anglican church, a small parking lot and several smaller older buildings. The idea is to recreate the magic of this intimate old school-style streetscape with modern materials--here, glasss curtain wall behind a metal lattice in a variety of colours mimicking brick & stone masonry. The lattice allows light into the office floors while providing shading and street appeal.

How tall will it be?

What if the Kirk of NimbyTect converted to red brick?

Would you worship here?

What I'm thinking about right now:

Build it or Brick it?

Holy ! you've got skills

I love your work. Can you also work on the Edmontonian Skyscraper in Edmonton, it's a disaster in the making, clean it up, and enhance the podium if you can.

Ha thx and I shall see if I can find the time/energy to redesign the window dressing on that Edmonton disaster.

I'm going for an origami BRUT-inspired facade on this building which I've called Nimby Clues, because its proposed location is right next door to Peter Clewes and co at aA on Adelaide Street West, Toronto.

The concept: office podium--NimbyTect's alliance? --with residential above.

Nice Tower, but I'm not a fan of your style of brutalism

^It's only one style. I've only got a million ideas but only one hour each day for SketchUp.

eg: I can already think of ten distinct directions this building could go in ... maybe tomorrow I'll show you version 2.0?

Caltrane, I was thinking of your request this morning so I opened up the SketchUp.

First, another look at Nimby Clues:

Edmonton or maybe Toronto, are you ready for Cougar Condos -- condos for grownups?

I have an idea forming in my Nimby Head re: Mirvish Village. This is my first quick sketch--2 minutes in SketchUp--to get my thoughts down before I forget:

Watch it evolve into reality....
