The bad - lots of "approved" and "proposed" projects never completed, including the American Commerce Tower, a beautiful plan for the Boyd, Dilworth House, and a nice tower on 5th and Walnut among others.

The ugly - Sugarhouse Hotel and Casino, LOL! Nice renderings but the "Hotel and Casino" ended up just being a low end slots barn.

Here's to the next 10,000 posts, may they be filled with lots of great news
I just did that too...

Very interesting to see the scale/scope of projects and how the 2013 projects are much more modest and feasible than the 2009 projects. Also the architectural trends are drastically different and the renderings are much flashier.

Hill International, the multinational construction management and insurance consulting company, is seeking a new headquarters location in Center City Philadelphia, David Richter, the 4,000-person company's president and chief operating officer, tells me. "It's easier to hire people, and there are better buildings and a better labor pool" downtown, compared to the company's longtime base in Marlton, N.J., he added.

Hill already leases a Philadelphia office in the Graham building on 15th St. south of City Hall, but Richter says HIll's longtime real estate agent, Anne Klein of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, is seeking a larger 60,000-70,000 sq ft space to accomodate at least 200 people initially, and is looking at several Philadelphia high rises as possible locations.

Newmark is based both in the Wanamaker building and in Wayne, PA. Would love to see Macy's buy up more of the Wanamaker building to expand the Macy's and those companies move out of the Wanamaker building into new office buildings.

Build more office highrises!

Newmark Grubb Knight Frank is Hill's broker. Hill would be moving 200 people downtown taking 70k in space.

All companies say these things. A company that wants to move downtown has no intentions of staying in suburban New Jersey. FMC said they were considering moving to NJ and Delaware as well but ended up settling for the 650 foot Cira Centre South Building. When a company says they want to be downtown, they want to be downtown. I would consider it more of a negotiating ploy if they were considering the Navy Yard.

Edit. Nevermind. When I read the actual article it's more clear than the way you posted it.

Sounds like nothing big, innovation center and footprint? It looks like no tower.

I'm paraphrasing Brian Roberts, "In Philadelphia, we will build the most sophisticated and innovative 'technology center' in the world."

Huh? What, do you need a magnifying glass to read between the lines? Nothing big? He basically said we are going to build the most state of the art building in the world--which is reflective of their commitment to innovation and growth.

The way he worded it, the fact that they are apparently going back and froth and further refining plans with Foster--it all actually gets me more excited to see what they have in store for this tower.
