Bay Park Centre is going to surprise people I think. It's a BIG project and will be very girthy. It's a shame it didn't end up another 100ft+ taller but what can you do. Still the tallest office tower to go up in Toronto since the TD Canada Trust Tower which was 25 years ago. I'm excited to see how it's going to turn out.

Thanks for those. The contrast in the third picture between the old and new (especially with the angles and curves) is cool!

They've really done a beautiful job with the office section, I hope that will continue into the residential addition moving forward.

On a side note: That parking lot in this photo has to go! Not only is it ugly but every time I walk past they have the lower levels blocked off.

This area is like a mini-Tokyo food alley. They could make better use of the space in an office or condo redevelopment for sure.

Also, I went to Yonge and Bloor and they are setting up a big environmental / site clearing mobile crane. Don't know if it is time to get excited yet.

I will get excited when the shoring rigs show up.

This tower is being built in a top down method if I'm not mistaken. That crane is there for lower columns into place after the holes are drilled.

Yep. Could also be used to lower the rebar into the caisson holes.

Unfortunately, it's the only parking in the office complex. I think we're stuck with it.

We've lost larger lots in the past, and for some reason they don't use all of the available space at this one. If a medium size 5 floor parking lot is removed people will learn to adjust. The Eaton Centre removed a massive parking lot when they sold the land to Ryerson, some would have thought that would never happen.

There are constructive ways to keep a parking garage while augmenting the effect on its surrounding area. Ground-level retail, facade renovation or street art are all viable options.
