Like I said, Markham is no heaven but it doesn't have any of the social ills that plague Surrey.
Markham is definitely an extremely safe and clean city, but Surrey is just more interesting/attractive, and with a denser built form, IMHO.

Surrey has all the social ills of an inner city while I'm assuming Markham is more of a typical wealthy suburb.

Overall I think Vancouver's suburban City Centre's look better / more pedestrian-scaled/walkable than Toronto's.

Vaughan's new City Centre looks pretty desolate as well, similar to Markham's. I know it is in it's early stages, with big plans for change, but still there are massive wide roads, wide boulevards, large blocky towers. Same goes for much of Mississauga City Centre even though it is more developed.

Surrey City Centre, Metrotown, Coquitlam City Centre, Richmond City Centre, New Westminster, North Vancouver are all much better scaled, with a better feel. Vancouver's suburbs are more urban than Toronto's.
Vancouver's suburban nodes are more comparable to the likes of North York, Six Points, and Port Credit. Anything in the 905 hellscape is a different species altogether.

The male strip club Remington's is shutting down.I have to assume it is in relation to the 98 floor tower proposed on site.

One Bloor West is supposed to start next month. Cresford's Yonge and Gerard tower is still a year or so away, at least. Probably closer to 2 years.

I would be the happiest man on earth if it could be a reality in a year.

I think that Surrey is more in line with Scarborough. When I have visitors over from Toronto, they always mention how Surrey reminds them of Scarborough.

One Bloor West... Sounds good, but will wait for equipment to appear before getting excited.

Another little steps has been passed today for Mirvish Gehry.
It's not so far to become a reality now.
