And what is the current, finalized roof height at? 1070?
It was written a while ago before WTC 3 secured a tenant. When the change/modifications occurred to the tower. Dam shame too, I loved that cross bracing.

It's not the number of floors leased, but the amount of space that will help Silverstein get financing. He only needed to lease about 400,000 sf to get assistance from the city and state. Seems GroupM will get more than that...

GroupM is taking 516,000 square feet in nine floors of the tower’s base.

There are some renderings posted earlier in the thread.

It's unfortunate about the height reduction, but it will still be 103 feet taller than WTC 4 which I think will be quite noticeable.

Constructed started years ago. Completion is 2016 or 2017.

3 World Trade Center, designed by renowned British architect Richard Rogers, is now set to open in 2017. When it does, GroupM will consolidate its 2,400 New York employees into the tower from offices scattered around Midtown.

great news and this wont remain a stump much longer but going fully ahead it will fill the gap between towers 1 and 4 nicely and give the area more density! still would have liked the older more crossbraced version but oh well what we are getting now isnt too bad either

I honestly didn't like the cross brace design as I felt it stuck out too much. I didn't think it worked well with the other towers but this new design is so much cleaner in my opinion.

The glass lobby is 3 stories tall, followed by 2 mechanical floors, and then the first office floor. That's 6 stories + the incomplete 7th story (core only right now) constructed already. Nothing is missing. There will be 4 more stories built to complete the base, then the tower begins. When there was talk about building just the stub base, it was only going to be what you see already constructed, they didn't intend to build the full 10 story base.

A little late to the game, but this is great and long anticipated news! I very much look forward to watching this tower rise. It is and always has been my favorite of the bunch.

Completely agree. In my opinion, as a stand alone tower, the cross bracing would have been great, but given the way the rest of the towers are, the removal of most of the bracing lets this one fit in more

I doubt we'll see any activity until March.

Thanks Drumz... I think I do remember a post regarding the missing floors for the base. I'm so excited, I began evaluating what has been done so far and comparing it to the new design. Trying to get a grasp on the whole thing.

You know they got a lot of work to do to get this think going again - I mean just installing the forms for the core could take weeks (might seem like an exaggeration, but you know how things go around here). Imagine all the de-construction they have to do for 2WTC, before construction could begin again.

There is more to be built, but also you're looking at a rendering of the opposite side, which will be higher than the Church St side due to its lower elevation.
