Any idea what's going on on Yamhill between SW Park and 10th?

Art Media (Blik?) has moved.
Finnegan's has moved.
Crafty Wonderland moved one door down on 10th, away from their corner spot on Yamhill.

The entire block between Park & 10th along Yamhill across the street from The Real Mother Goose is empty. It's sad. Art Media had been there for ages, and Finnegan's along with Little Finnegan's had been there for a long time too. Even Crafty Wonderland, which took over the old Little Finnegan's spot has moved (though only one door down on 10th). It's weird that the entire length of the block along Yamhill became empty at the same time. Unless there's a reason?

Fenouil space leased to Davis Street Tavern team
Portland Business Journal by Wendy Culverwell , Business Journal staff writer
Date: Friday, March 2, 2012, 11:16am PST

Jamison, serving “classic new American cuisine,” will open in the former Fenouil space overlooking the Pearl District’s Jamison Park.

Craig Sweitzer of Urban Works Real Estate reports that the Davis Street Tavern team of Christopher Handford and Blake Smith leased the 220-seat Fenouil space and will renovate it as their second restaurant.

The new jamison, 900 N.W. 11th St., opens in May. Its menu will emphasize locally farmed ingredients served in a fine dining atmosphere. Urban Works brokered the deal.

The Dussin Group, operators of the Old Spaghetti Factory chain, closed Fenouil nearly a year ago.

Ross moving to the former Borders space. I wonder who we take the Ross spot?

That's really good news. Their current space feels so dingy. It's been falling apart for years. Remember when they had escalators? Though they're only moving a few blocks, the Borders space has so much better of a location.

I too wonder what will become of the current Ross space once they move.

It'll generate lots of foot traffic and that's a very good thing.

Office Depot downtown is consolidating into their street-level space, and subleasing the basement to T.J. Maxx.

So strange. Why wouldn't TJ Maxx move into the space Ross is vacating? I wonder if they signed the lease before the Ross deal was announced and are now kicking themselves. So strange. And Office Depot consolidating into only their fist floor space? Did they acquire more space there? If not, it's going to be tiny.

It looks as though (from the above rendering) that there is plenty of space for the Yard House to take the remaining space of Saks..

More minimal and modern.

Can't wait until this one is done!

I really don't like how the new apple store doesn't try to follow the previous detentions of the Saks store and leaves a bunch of blank wall showing on the office building it will be attached to.

...previous detentions...?

Do you mean "dimensions"?

And the "blank wall" is far from blank. It's supposed to be some kind of rock material that will provide a dramatic backdrop to the glass box in front of it. I guarantee Apple is not going through the trouble of demolishing the Saks storefront so they can put up something boring. This will be "THE" destination in downtown when it's done.

Definitely meant dimensions.

Sorry for not being able to infer the material of the wall based on that Oregonian render...

The Design Advice Request mentions the stone wall. No renderings yet of what it will look like.

Yeah, I'm mega jealous Bad ass Portland is getting a flagship Apple store..... Come on Apple.....Seattle needs one!!

This certainly is not the best location and apple will probably hold out for the spot that they want but they could make it work. In the not so distant future we will have a beautiful development at the lot across the street where 1Hotel was going...1521 has changed the feeling of the block already..Columbia Sportwear brings a different clientele..

If Apple puts their mind to it, they build what ever they want.. I can totally see this inside the basement.
