Align them better? What are you talking about? You are always saying my photos are crooked. They are as straight as can be.

Baltimore has so many great buildings although many in these pics are abandoned at least they can still be restored and hopefully will be someday.

I was just checking out some 1700s houses in the Uniointown area a couple weekends ago, and thought about how it's an area you should explore, photoLith. Nice to see your pictures of that gorgeous part of Pennsylvania. There are so many historic hidden gems tucked into the mountains of Fayette, Somerset and Bedford counties.

Cumberland is possibly my favorite small city within a couple hours of Pittsburgh. Stunning built environment and mountainous environment.

Remaining buildings not boarded-up have liquor stores in them. Helpful to the residents, I'm sure.

Baltimore has many, many beautiful row house neighborhoods. My favorite was Mount Vernon. Fells Point was fascinating, too. I walked through West Baltimore and nothing happened to me. It's not that scary. It felt kind of like walking through Wilkinsburg.

I need to get down to Cumberland. It seems like a nicer version of Wheeling, with more preservation.

awesome thread. i felt as though i was in a Wire episode. ive always found Baltimore fascinating.

one aspect that stands out to me is the lack of Graffiti. I would think those abandoned buildings would be all tagged up already.

Cumberland is in need of a major makeover as well. It seems stuck in the 1980s, although I haven't spent much time there so maybe it's better than what i saw.

It is stuck in the 80s. Horrible economy and demographics. Downtown retail is dead.

Because they destroyed their downtown with a ridiculous pedestrian mall probably in the 70s which makes no sense for a city it's size and population decline.

One of my favorite sets of yours yet. Baltimore's proximity to DC and along the Acela Express will further gentrify it.

I'm totally due for a trip to DC and Baltimore.

Quality set. The eerie shots of Baltimore's decaying rows especially striking.

Great photo tour and kudos to you for cruising through some rough looking neighborhoods. You definitely delivered. It is amazing to me the contrast between the west and east coast of the US.
