Construction has begun on River House, a 261-unit apartment complex that straddles Roy Smith Street at the San Antonio River, adjacent to 1221 Broadway, and across the river from the San Antonio Museum of Art. The first move-ins are expected in late summer 2014, and the entire project is due for completion in early 2015.
“The River House project will continue the momentum and redevelop a key section of downtown with additional high-quality housing options in the River North area,” Mayor Julián Castro said in a press release.
River House will offer studios, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartments.
“We have not finalized our pricing, but it’s fair to say it’s market-rate rent consistent with other projects in the neighborhood,” said John Beauchamp, chief investment office with Hixon Properties Inc., a partner in the development.
The apartments themselves will boast 10-foot ceilings, granite and quartz counter tops, walk-in closets, and stainless appliances. Amenities for River House residents include an infinity pool, fitness center and clubhouse.
The total cost of the project is not being disclosed; though it was listed as a $31 million project to the City Council in May 2012, when it was due for incentives package.
