So, basically you're saying you don't like the design of the building because it's got a flag at the top instead of some ornamental thingy.

Boy, some people are real picky . . .

You missed my comment about the glass. There's more to dislike about this design. I'm also looking at that pathetic suburban 1980s office-park wedge thing...

^
The glass is pretty much standard condo-esque stuff (even the office part, sorta). If you don't like the glass on this, you shouldn't like the glass on half the condo projects going up around here. So I don't see what the fuss is all about.

Moving this over from the NW forum as well as plagiarizing Bond's words of wisdom: Fortson, a 13-story mixed-use building, is under construction at 201 Yesler Way and will provide affordable housing for downtown service workers and those with entry-level jobs.

Speaking of "and Yesler" projects, is 5th and Yesler officially dead or what? I sort of liked that design.

5th & Madison, pictures courtesy of mSeattle:

Can anybody dig up any more information on this? Word over at SSC is that it is slated to begin construction this week with a 2007 finish. Nice to see more residential and retail projects going up in the middle of the financial core.

^ I like the glass and I guess they want to not distract from the library next door. It's cool.

March is next month.

It's not just the bldg...the location is fantastic.

I think the view (of the bay/Olympics)will be more interesting w/ the towers and library to give it some variety. The lights of the skyline at night will be cool, also.

I guess the main drawback of that area would be the lack of activity during the evening. I used to work at 999 3rd, and the only action around there was the Met Grill on the SE corner of 2nd and Marion.

They can catch a bus on 4th Ave to Pine/Pike. Getting back home will be the issue. Fifth Ave. seems very weird in its selection of buses. I'm not sure that the residents in this building will be the "hanging out on the streets" type.

I posted stuff in the Northwest section.

Where's Rainier Meadows? He should have some pictures of the Denny Triangle area and Cascade stuff from his building.
