Ottawa's former Delta hotel is being reclad for its reopening as a Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites.

Picture taken by me from the penthouse of the current Delta Hotel.

It's former self. This one was taken by Harley613 from the Ottawa thread in 2014.

Part of a massive overhaul of the former Sears space anchoring the south end of Midtown Plaza in Downtown Saskatoon is a complete facade makeover.

The former HSBC Tower and parkade in Edmonton is getting a full reno/reclad by AIMCO.

EDMONTON, July 26, 2018 /CNW/ - Alberta Investment Management Corporation ("AIMCo") announced today its plans for the complete redevelopment of HSBC Bank Place to become Edmonton's newest "AA" class office building. Acquired on behalf of its clients in February 2017, HSBC Bank Place is located in the center of Edmonton's downtown business core, adjacent to the vibrant Ice District, and within close proximity to the city's most sought out lifestyle and business destinations.

The podium is not an improvement at all, but the tower looks a bit better.

Lipstick on a pig for the parkade, I was hoping they would add CRUs on the main floor.

That's my biggest gripe with this renovation. I like the new podium, I like the new curtainwall for the tower and I'm sure the interior will turn out solid, however that parkade is a major eyesore and adding some retail on the ground floor would've really helped transform the area, which has a ton of momentum going for it right now being that it sits beside Ice District.

It'll be nice to see the concrete bunker that is that parkade be redone but it will still generate no activity beyond its original use.

Not every parking garage can have retail. Plus, there will be so much new retail space within the Ice District, they would be competing with that.

The competition doesn't worry me, it's the lack of activation that worries me. There is plenty of room in that parking garage for a CRU.

Room does not make a space make.

Nor would be a north facing, low street traffic CRU.

There is a first for everything, this project would have been a good start. The south side of the street is completely lifeless due to parkades for two blocks, not acceptable.
