I didn't even realize this was out of the ground yet and I've been in the area quite a few times recently. Thanks for all the updates Klazu!

Came across this super high-resolution (6076 x 5500 pixels!) version of the original render. Not pasting it here, so check the link.

Nothing new, but posting it here for the records.

I see the building every day on my way to work and it is bland as hell. A far cry from the original rendering that was alluding a blue tone, but was again just a reflection of the evening sky. Such a boring project.

This building looks totally different than the render. What happened?

Looks like there may just be a strip of coloured balcony glass up the tower to the "lantern" at the top.

The worst side is the one facing the park (i.e., west) - so uniformly bland!

It's only about a third of the way up right now and is already nearly as tall as most of the nearby highrises. It'll be interesting to see how much it sticks out of this part of the neighbourhood once it's done.

I'm guessing the long-term plan is probably to build similar highrises along the couple blocks to the east (Olive/Wilson)?

You want them to replace rental buildings with high rise condos - heresy!

Other than get some new mid rise rental buildings in there, I'm hoping they replace the building at the corner of Central and Willingdon. After that they can expand Central and make that corner into a proper four-way stop.

Polygon's last two towers in Metrotown, Moda and The Chancellor, were surprisingly fresh and thoughtful. This is looking like a return to bland form.

There was a woman directing traffic for this tower at Olive and Barker. Oh man was she bored as there was nothing for her to do most of the time. She didn't know any more about this building than anyone here and guessed that there's about 5 more floors until it's topped out. We chatted for a few minutes until a big truck started coming out of the site.

Geez that is one boring looking tower. It can be suggested that the original rendering was a misrepresentation of the final product. Expected better from Polygon.

But if the rendering is "real" doesn't the glass on the balcony includes a few panes that alternates blue/green? At least the part that extends up into the mechanical penthouse.
