Cool Awesome

This is really great for Manhattan. I think I have finally accepted that I must move on - and this skyscraper really helps with the transition. This is such a sweet design - love it!

Glad to hear it. More will follow as the towers start to rise. Then the true scale can be appreciated...

The 'diamonds' appear exceptional from this rendering, not some others that the diamonds appear assymetrical or even 'crooked'

It seems more like a 45º rectangle than a diamond.

iirc the diamonds actually are a bit "crooked". While symmetrical when looking from the south (plenty of elevations on the last page) the shape of the tower is not a square, the north and south sides bulge out a bit.

According to the planned layout, looks like this tower has about 43 elevators!!

That's an awful lot for an office tower. Looks like a huge core!

I believe they would be in the core...

Connections with the city at street level have been reinforced with glass walls creating a visual relationship with the surrounding streets. The imposing double height ground floor lobby is connected at the Greenwich Street entrance to the MTA providing direct access to the underground infrastructure system. The lobby rises in level along Vesey Street and includes a further connection with the transport system via escalators and a four-storey shopping area connecting with Fulton Street and spilling out onto the Wedge of Light plaza.

BUILDING SYSTEMS
The tower will consist of a central concrete core—steel encased in reinforced concrete—and an external structural steel frame. Safety systems will exceed New York City building code and Port Authority requirements. Designed to the highest energy efficiency ratings, 200 Greenwich Street will seek to achieve the gold standard under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) by the US Green Building Council.

This picture shows that none of the "diamonds" are straight and most of them are crooked and not parallel.

Amazing picture. This model only further convinces me that--excluding the disregarded version B of the Chicago Spire of course--this is the best design for any building that I have ever seen. I am in aww.

What will the "official" floor count be for this one? Will they play games with the numbers, same as with the FT, to account for lobbies, etc?

It's only a model, but you can see from the footprint that its pretty accurate...

Here's what's official:

Quote:
PROGRAM
200 Greenwich Street, a 78-story tower, will be the second tallest skyscraper on the World Trade Center site and in New York City.
You can try to count with this smaller rendering...

77, 78 what the hell difference does it make? I'll stand by 78, and take NYGuy's article for it. He always provides accurate information.

i don't have anything productive to add, but while i, and everyone else, knew about the freedom tower, seeing the heights of these other buildings for wtc is pretty amazing. this is going to be a helluva cluster of buildings.
