The Cinema Tower in TO has terra cotta panels on its parkade and loooks great:

If the panels on Maddox look half as good as those I'll change my mind about this tower. I just wish they were able to a wall of them near the base like on that tower in Toronto.

If my memory serves me correctly, the 'terra cotta panels' on the Cinema Tower parkade are simply textured precast concrete with a stain applied so they resemble true terracotta.

I hope Maddox doesn't wind up with anything like that...

Ah, thanks for the heads up.
As long as the finish looks good (textured), I thing either wold look good.

I just hope they don't look like raw floor tiles.

It's screening an above ground parkade - but it adds a scuptural quality absent in many Vancouver buildings.
Telus Garden podium will have onyx cladding - it may be interesting.

I'm glad Telus Gardens will have that cladding. It adds so much substance and, as you say, sculptural quality, to the base of a tower.

First terra cotta panels going up on the southwest corner of the building. Didn't have camera with me, but with quick look they looked fine.

Nice! Thanks.

I wonder if they intended the diagonal shading?

Are the panels supposed to be differently colored or is it just the light?

I'm impressed. It's definitely different and certainly preferable to the usual blue/green spandrel.

Why do no Vancouverites (except like one or two) ever post these awesome construction updates on the Canada section? Obviously it would be nice to see something other than Toronto, and as Vancouver is the only metro area in the country that even comes near Toronto's level of construction (about half), I'm sure the rest of Canada would love to see these awesome updates...

Not a fan of multi-coloured panels, especially terracotta ones.

I've posted around 10 times in the Canada section and every post has been ignored except for one, where you replied. Almost seems like there's resentment towards Vancouverites.

They should have all been the same color.

Oh, sorry to hear that :/ Well, a few people respond to the skyline pics when they're posted. I didn't realize there was so little interest in seeing construction updates. Every time I see a quotable construction update here I post it on the Canada section. It's hard to do though, cause most updates are already quoted from Yellow Fever, and I don't know how to do double quotes... I'm not even sure how people feel about me quoting their updates to the Canada section to begin with :S

Go nuts, someone's gotta do it!

I'd love it if there were more Vancouverites in the Canada section but they tend to stay away. twofold reason i would imagine, one is the community here is very active and healthy and the other is that the Canada section can be a bit of a quagmire and a hostile place.
