Which city next to 1 million

So which Canadian city will be next to cross the 1 million mark - Ottawa or Edmonton?

Plenty of factors at play here, possible annexations/amalgamations, differing economies and they are virtually neck and neck right now with Ottawa at 934,243 and Edmonton at 932,546 per the 2016 Census results.

Be mindful of the terminology being used - yeah, I know it'll get some people's britches all knotted up but it is a poll and thread that I started. I am well aware of the city versus CMA versus urban area versus what have you delineations and how some have strong feelings/opinions one way or another.

As such, please don't bother with the age old arguments as we all know that any 'city' will use that magical 1 million mark in their marketing and self promotion - it is kind of a big deal.

Poll is anonymous and you only get one kick at the cat in the poll.

Both will be very close together crossing that unless oil goes up or down another $10.

I'm biased, but with our growth rate and potential upcoming annexations I think it'll be Edmonton. Alberta still seems to be one of the fastest growing provinces, after all.

Edmonton's proposed Leduc County annexation - Edmonton International Airport is a contentious issue by the looks of things - link.
