This will be the same height of the old proposal - it's the same zoning envelope. 215m.

FrankieFlowerpot says it'll be the same height as the Four Seasons, which is 204 metres... what's the real number?

I made a drawing of 33 Yorkville, based on the latest renders: 215 metre estimate

Still can't get the Toronto list diagram over 50 towers taller than 200 meters.

I guess its only a mater of time, but I have been dreaming about that for about 4 years now.

Relax Cal... the East Harbour towers aren't on the list. That should add a couple extra, and whatever gets proposed at the Holt-Renfrew site should be another tower or 2 as well... that will bring the total to well over 50...

The Mirvish project was bought by Great Gulf.

That's pretty big news. Great Gulf has the experience to get this thing going. Hopefully this gets the ball rolling again. Also this quote is promising.

“It’s a magnificent development opportunity and aligns well with our vision to build iconic state-of-the-art developments. Toronto is truly a global city and this development will continue to build our reputation on the world stage. The entire team at Great Gulf is excited to work with Frank Gehry to realize the bold vision and legacy of David Mirvish,” says Great Gulf’s Wein.

Great news that Mirvish was finally able to flip it and to a developer with some taste. Let's see what changes are made by Great Gulf. My guess is some major changes. Some density redistribution and 20+ storey off the top. Gehry will stay on as a design consultant.

Noooooooo!
I was hoping it would go in the opposite direction (ie. taller) to rise above the other proposed supertalls.

I'm just speculating on the basis that they will only build 98 floors if they have to build 98 floors. If they can do it in 65 to 70 floors than they will. They won't be going taller. The supertall proposals are spread out in all corners of the downtown. These will stand out by a lot if built to 300+ metres.

I dont think there will be big changes. Great gulf has a great taste in term of architecture and i dont think that Gehry will want a change of the design.

Agreed. Great Gulf struggled with One Bloor East due to the long duration between investment and cashflow. While it was a profitable project, they're also a relatively tiny company. Unless Mirvish is still in the project as a substantial financial backer to the project, which is possible, I'd expect GG will do whatever they can to shorten the construction duration including making the towers quite a bit shorter.

I think one Bloor is proof GG can pull off a high quality tall project. I see no reason why they would adjust Ghery's plan if the city has given a green light to it already. Like enrique8 said I don't think Ghery will want to see a change in his design, I also think GG will want to build it as he wants it to get a project with a start architect like him in their portfolio.

Lets all wait and see though.
