There are things called renderings, you see, that show you exactly what the building will look like.

How could you call an entire city ugly when it has one of the most diverse and modern skylines in the world?
I personally don't think the city is ugly, but a skyline doesn't make a city.

So anyone who disagrees with your preferences in architecture is jealous and has something wrong with them. Nice.

Actually, that third photo gives me a whole new perspective on Dubai. It's more urban than I thought.

The skyline looks sweet from that angle.

Exclamation Wow

WOW! It may be ugly, it may be in the desert - but face it - it is now the tallest building in the world. Pretty cool in my opinion, but we are all entitled to our own opinions . . .

Exactly? Now, now, what building looks exactly like its rendering?

So you were judging the street life? Hardly. A skyline goes a long way to defining a city's beauty anyway. I'm not afraid to say it. I don't wake up to the beautiful skyline and think about some other aspect of the city. I don't stop and stare at the road system or the do I gasp at the artificial lakes at the park. Buildings is what makes or break a city for me. If some aspect of Dubai made it seem ugly to you, go ahead and say what it was... on a thread with a subject title to that effect.

Wow, don't put words in other's people's posts that aren't there. I don't prefer Dubai's architecture over my own city. What I was referring to was the mass of negative comments that came in a thread celebrating the ascension of the world's tallest tower. No one was asked their opinion of the city or tower, but yet they came. Jealousy is a perfectly reasonable conclusion as to the cause.

Won't be world's tallest for very long, I reckon.

Congrats are in order. I'm not a big fan of Dubai, but I'm a huge fan of Skyscrapers, so I still find this exciting.
