Old Ebbitt Grill is one of DC's very well-known restaurants. It's 1 block from the White House and is popular with pretty much everyone, including locals, tourists, and politicians. They have a rooftop.
A while ago I went up there and took some pictures.
First, a pan of the general view. The Washington Monument is prominent. The White House is on the far right. Various skylines of Virginia are on the horizon. The square-shaped classical building on the bottom is the US Treasury Building, which was built in 1836 and was the first large government office building in the city.

Washington and Jefferson, with the blue of the Potomac peeking through.
This is Pennsylvania Avenue directly in front of the White House. It's been closed to cars since the Clinton administration, but you can still walk and bike on it.
The White House, with Rosslyn VA behind.
The foreground building is the Old Executive Office Building. The Vice President's office is there, and prior to construction of the Pentagon it was HQ of the military.
The tall buildings here are Bailey's Crossroads VA. The spiky thing is the US Air Force Memorial.
