Cherry Blossum festival

Hey there, I'm going to head to Vancouver for a week..ish... and hope to catch some of the beautiful cherry blossums. The problem is I only have a week to 10 days, and have to book at least a month in advance. I see that the VCBF is officially March 26 to April 22. Can anyone shed some light on what might be a a week with a high chance of success, or is it a total crapshoot?

Thanks

It all depends upon the temperature. It has to be warm enough to trigger them to blossom. I would say that since it is held during that period, they will be around, but probably better to arrive earlier rather than later.

This photo (taken by me) was shot on March 15th 2010, and they lasted a couple of weeks after that.

Do you think that by say.. Feb 22 it might be easier to estimate whether it will be a early/normal/late bloom?

It should be possible to pinpoint at that point. The Japan Weather Association is able to pinpoint it down to pretty much the exact day many months in advance for all regions of the Country, so I'd imagine someone in Vancouver should have a pretty good idea far in advance.
