Hunter is the only one who lives in a bubble.

The problem is, that he doesn't learn. He comes up with the same topic.. over and over again.

His list isn't a list to make us happy. His list has only one purpose, he want's to be right, but he won't, because he doesn't know enough, he is a photographer and he should stick to his business.

There's a very thin line between this being interesting versus "interesting." They should really simplify the design by sticking with 1-2 motifs.

The scale is nice though, especially given the location.

Why was the original 840' corrected to say 740' in the title, yet the renderings show an architectural height of 840' ?

Look at the drawing, its "ground" level starts at 100ft. The 840 figure must include below ground parking, although that would be a mighty deep hole.

The height might just refer to height above sea level (not ground level).

Mixed-Use Tower Slated to Replace Los Angeles Car Wash
Quote:
A sure sign that Los Angeles is urbanizing and slowly but surely shedding its auto-centric image, a car wash at the corner of Olympic Boulevard and Figueroa Street is slated for major intensification. Neman Real Estate Investments has appointed architect Nardi Associates to design the Olympic Tower, which is seeking a height of 57 storeys and 226 metres, and if approved, would become one of the city's tallest buildings.

Flamboyant South Park skyscraper moves ahead

Quote:
By 2023, the car wash at the corner of Figueroa and Olympic could be replaced with a “kaleidoscopic” 58-story skyscraper.

That’s according to a new timeline in a newly released draft environmental impact report, which shows construction could begin as soon as 2020.

The tower would hold a handful of different uses, including a hotel and hundreds of condos.

Designed by Nardi Associates, the unique, grid-like exterior shell of the building is intended to invoke a kaleidoscope, and will incorporate plants, LED lights, and photovoltaic panels on its exterior “exoskeleton.”

On its website, Nardi says the tower was designed as a “monumental urban tree... where real vegetation is combined with digitized landscape and graphic art images.”

The first three floors of the high-rise would hold 65,074 square feet of commercial space. Above that would be office space, 373 hotel rooms, and 374 condos. On the 13th floor, the tower would have “a large, elevated, landscaped atrium.” The project would also hold six levels of underground parking

The carwash on the site now was long considered a hold-out in a neighborhood where new developments have been steadily proposed, taking out parking lots and shorter commercial buildings and replacing them with multi-building megaprojects.

The plan to redevelop this major corner site in South Park first emerged in late 2015—about a year after the longtime owner, Robert Bush, sold the site to developer Ben Neman for $25 million. Bush bought the property in 1980, paying $525,000.

That's amazing. I really thought this tower was just a pipe dream. Hopefully we see other proposals break ground or at least get more info like LA Grand Hotel Tower, Angels Landing and Figueroa Centre.

This building is weird as all hell, and that's why it's perfect for LA. I really hope LA gets building its skyline up. A city as big and great as LA deserves a proper skyline. This would be an amazing addition

It looks a bit like a student project but I love it. If there's any city where you could actually cover the facade in a plant wall it's LA.

I don't expect the finished project to look a lot like this, however.

Facade-wise it's a narrowly-avoided train wreck. I too expect a fair degree of value-engineering.

But the roof line is a welcome addition to a skyline in drastic need of inspiration.

It doesn't look like this architecture firm has ever built anything approaching this scale.

https://www.nardi-associates.com/projects

I wish them luck, but just pointing that out.

Thank you. LA has a hard enough time getting basic boxes off the ground, but everyone is getting excited over this ? It will get fully entitled, sold, a complete redesign that's been watered down, shortened and THEN built.

New views of showy South Park skyscraper replacing Olympic, Figueroa car wash

Quote:
A nearly 60-story high-rise planned for the corner of Olympic and Figueroa is coming into better focus.

New renderings of the South Park project, which would replace a carwash at the intersection across from LA Live, come as the project readies to go before the city’s planning commission next week.

Developer Neman Real Estate Investments plans a 57-story tower with 374 condos, 373 hotel rooms, offices, and shops on the lower floors. The building would sit on six levels of underground parking, and have eight levels of above-ground parking as well, most of which would be wrapped with office space to effectively hide it from view. In all it would provide 838 parking spaces.

Designed by Nardi Associates, the tower would incorporate vertical gardens, rooftop amenity space, and a large atrium for the hotel, renderings show. Landscape design for the project is done by AHBE | MIG.

Closest to the street, the project will feature three floors of retail space. At the sidewalk, the developer plans “a pedestrian-friendly environment which includes shade trees and landscape along the street, enhanced sidewalk paving, lighting and seating” and a covered pedestrian path created by a triangular glass and structural steel “exoskeleton” that make up the building facade.

The project’s draft environmental impact report, which came out about a year ago, estimated that construction could begin as soon as 2020. It’s unclear if that timeline is still accurate.
