Today would be a great day to be a mediocre UFA NHL player, you're sure to ca$h in.
In some cases at least, it is so they can get up to the new salary cap floor.

^some cases, yeah.

i'm curious what the different pay rolls would be without a cap or floor. i know the canucks would be spending like hell to keep the team we had last year with a few additions. how low would some teams go?

The Connolly signing is gonna be huge for Toronto. He'll put up 70+ points on our first line if he stays healthy (and he will-hasn't had any recurrent injuries lately). He'll be a bargain at that price.

$5 million is now a "bargain" for less than a point per game? Christ, Olli Jokinen is a positive STEAL at $3 million then.

Check your numbers, its 4.75 million.

Connolly will double Jokinen's point total this season. Book it.

Jokinen had 54 points last season. Connolly has only ever done that twice in 9 full-ish NHL seasons. You're speaking out of your ass; while it's certainly not impossible, there's nothing to indicate anything of the sort happening beyond blind cheerleading of your team

every goal scored last season by the canucks; 43 minutes to fit them all in. a thing of beauty.

I think we all know that one team would be in Jacksonville or some other Betman mandated hockey hotbed.

When Canuck fan remembers their playoff run, they do so as if comming in second was a glorious event. Something to tell their grandchildren about. Sad.

The Oilers certainly have option #2 well-rehearsed.

I don't think Vancouver tried very hard for the cup, either.

Agreed. That's why I cheer for the Flames. They try hard and still suck (I'm looking at you Olli). At least there is something noble in that (in my opinion).

... you wouldn't understand, but when you have 5, you can rest of your laurels a little as we want to share this amazing experience with a few other cities.

Not Vancouver though.
