Crime in Calgary

That idiot Colley-Urquart (sp) was on the news tonight bemoaning the presence of so many bars in the beltline, and heavily implying that's the cause of this recent crime. All that 2am mayhem on the streets as bars empty out, and so on.

First, sweetheart, the victims are not cooperating with police. That's not random drunken violence, that's gang-related (regardless of whether or not the cops want to call it that). Innocent victims of random crime do not tell the police to F off.

Second - why the hell does every bar close at 2am anyway? Allow them to set their own hours, and you won't see hundreds of drunks on the streets at the exact same time.

Why are the obvious answers so damned hard to figure out for politicians?
