Not sure what everyone does but I store my my skyscraper pics in a folder on my Facebook page. To post from there, I just open a photo in Facebook in a separate tab and copy and paste the link in here. Works for each time. Must be copied from a separate tab though otherwise some of your Facebook info will be displayed.

I use a free pic hosting service called tinypic.com. You can upload and post your pic via web url. Very easy, no need to register for an account. They also have message board formats. The website is loaded with ads though, fwiw.

I noticed Saturday that the Best Western hotel at the Airport is still not open, though it appears to have been ready a month or more, tables have been set in the dining room. I guess there must be other issues to deal with

There’s a change of ooccupancy approval in councils agenda at 180 Portugal Cove which is The Hoilday Inn.
But all I think it is that the company that purchased from Fortis has resold it again to the company that owns Extend A Stay Hotels.

Not sure what thread to post this in but huge news on the radio still front. NL Cap Corp has sold its radio stations to Stingray of Montreal which includes VOCM, Hits Fm and K-Rock.

Let's hope this brings changes to K-Rock. Don't know how a station can be so successful after playing the same tracks for 15+ years.

I would imagine some formatting changes are in order. At the very least a change in the music played. I'm not sure how royalties work but maybe NewCap scrolled through the same list to keep expenses minimal.... again, knowing nothing of how royalties work....

Who knows, maybe we'll get a new station or two... preferably not another classic rock or pop hits station.

Well there's 40 Stingray channels on Bell so perhaps they'll just pipe some of those onto the Newcap stations and do away with local DJ's ??

Errr... I hope that's not the case. As much as we feel that local DJs can be a little annoying at times, I wouldn't want to see any job losses. I think DJs are still important to the industry. I know that, currently, Stingray is a streaming audio service with no on-air DJs. Maybe Stringray is expanding its business to include live, on-air radio??

I believe some re-formatting and new music streams will freshen up the local radio scene. Let's be honest, radio has been pretty stale here for a while - this acquisition could really liven it up again. Remains to be seen I guess.

I noticed a tower crane going up in the Waterford Valley near Topsail Rd. Anyone have any idea what is going to be built in that area?

I've noticed the road construction at the Columbus Rd area for a project. The only thing I know of in that area is a 4 storey assisted & independent living complex at the old Sisters of Mercy which is on back of the Corpus Christi Complex at 220 Waterford Bridge Rd.

That is indeed what that project is. It is being built by Cahill who owns the Towers complex below that construction site.

Anybody else notice the staining already on the white cladding panels of the new science building at MUN?

Hoping it's due to construction but if not what a terrible choice of materials...

Hmm... interesting. I guess the project is still in the works? I haven't heard a peep about this in quite some time until now. Thanks for the find!
