Amazing a newbie poster who never even heard of 225 W.57 has such a deep understanding of SSP's inner workings, skyscraper construction and NYC zoning. Who knew?

We're all perfectly confident you aren't trolling, and are actually truly curious to educate yourself on the manner...

111 Murray St is now 822ft/251m and 62 stories. So about the same height as 56 Leonard. The two will make a nice pair.

Jersey City respectfully submits two supertalls as part of New York City's total, one approved the other recently proposed.

99 Hudson, APPROVED, 95 floors, 302m/990ft

Liberty Rising, PROPOSED, 90 floors, ~300m/~984ft

It is very unlikely Liberty Rising will be built, but it is a formal proposal and included for discussions purposes.

1 Vanderbilt may be the highest deck when finished.

In terms of top 10.

How Does the One WTC Observatory Stack Up Against the World’s Highest Tourist Spots?

Quote:
It was a big day in New York City last Friday, when the One World Trade Center Observatory officially opened to the public, welcoming New Yorkers and tourists alike to the top of the tallest building in North America. While the view from 1,250 feet up in the air seems like the apex of the world, the folks over at the Skyscraper Museum put together this fun infographic, which compares the highest publicly-accessible tourist spaces around the world, including observation decks, bars, restaurants, and other sky-high thrills. Turns out, the One World Trade Observatory ranks 9th for observation decks and 11th for all publicly-accessible spaces.

The graph is part of the Skyscraper Museum’s exhibit Ten Tops, which explores the uppermost floors of the world’s tallest buildings. They previously released an interactive timeline of these buildings called the History of Height. This new infographic, titled Top Tourist Towers, is the latest visual and educational accompaniment to the exhibit.

Such a sensual skyline, I just want to marry it and have it be mine. I bet all of Americas skylines combined still wouldn't be as large as New York Cities.

WTC2:

Credit: http://ny.curbed.com/archives/2015/0...n_revealed.php

Quote:
DESIGN

The design of 2 WTC is derived from its urban context at the meeting point between two very different neighborhoods: the Financial District with its modernist skyscrapers and TriBeCa with its lofts and roof gardens. The design combines the unique qualities of each, melding high-rise with low-rise and modern with historical. From the 9/11 Memorial, the building appears as a tall and slender tower just as its three neighboring towers, while the view from TriBeCa is of a series of stepped green terraces. The building is aligned along the axis of World Trade Center Master Planner Daniel Libeskind’s ‘Wedge of Light’ plaza to preserve the views to St. Paul’s Chapel from the Memorial park.

The needs and requirements of its tenants are concentrated into seven separate building volumes, each tailored to their unique activities. The stacking creates 38,000 sf (3,530 sm) of outdoor terraces full of lush greenery and unprecedented views of the surrounding cityscape, extending life and social interaction outdoors. A public plaza at the foot of the building and access to 350,000 sf (32,516 sm) of shopping and restaurants in the adjacent transportation hub and concourses will ensure life and activity in and around the new World Trade Center. The modernist skyscraper and the contemporary interpretation of the pre-modern setback merge in a new hybrid and an exciting addition to the NYC skyline.

I haven't looked at SSC yet, but good idea! Just have to make some popcorn first.

And... have to put on ACDC's "Welcome to the Jungle" while reading it.

Edit: So I read it and here are some quotes from over there.

1) GET RID OF THOSE FÜCKÏNG CANTILEVERS AND MARQUEES.
2) Will Westfield still have those extra 100,000 square feet of retail space?! They'd better!
3) Why isn't it 1,362 feet tall if he wanted to pay homage to the twins?!
4) It doesn't fit in with the complex at all from most angles! It seriously needs to straighten up!
5) Why isn't "2 World Trade Center" written anywhere in sight? Labeling it simply as "200 Greenwich Street" implies that Silverstein just sold off the parcel to an unrelated project, and it sure appears that way from the outside!
5) WHY THE HELL SHOULD IT BOW TO THE AESTHETICS OF TriBeCA?! This is FiDi; this is the World Trade Center, a strong symbol of business and economy! It's not some modern artist's loft!

I like the redesign, personally.

Oh no. This is such a huge disappointment. The diamond design was so rad. Why don't the step down face 1 WTC and the memorial site? Wouldn't that make more sense?

I don't like it ... not at all. Foster's 2WTC was in the same league with Steinway and Verre ... but this isn't even in the top 10.

God dammit why did they have to ruin the design of 2 World Trade? I was looking forward to that building the most, now it looks like crap. And will Faux News really have their propaganda plastered for all to be brainwashed by while looking up at that tower?
