The base looks fantastic, and fits right into the neighborhood. The spandrel glass is a bit disappointing, but otherwise, this is a nice-looking addition to a growing Edmonton skyline.

^ I actually really like the spandrel, but then again, we've never really had a residential tower clad like this before, so it could just be because it's new-to-Edmonton.

Not the hugest fan of the podium, but it's not terrible. I'd have much preferred a more cleaner and modern look, not unlike - and please don't flame me, I know it's not perfect either - Fox One's podium.

^ That's the beauty of taste: it's subjective, so there's no definitive right or wrong, no matter what anyone says. What does Fox One's podium look like?

Edit: I answered my own question. I like Fox One's podium as well, and have liked it since those initial renderings came out. I think both podiums are designed for their immediate surroundings. The slightly more ornate brickwork on Ultima plays off of the more ornate Old Spaghetti Factory building across the street, and the cleaner lines of Fox One respond to the post war buildings (and strangely enough, the parking garage) in their immediate surroundings. I think both are rather well-designed.
