Anyone remember when Jeff Daniels was on the Conan O'Brien show talking about filming the movie "The Lookout" in Winnipeg? He described Winnipeg as "like Buffalo with Communists".

Also, not long ago, Ben Kingsley starred in a movie filmed in Winnipeg called "You Kill Me". It was set in Buffalo and Kingsley played a hitman for the Polish mob.

I guess Hollywood sees the parallels between the 2 cities.

yeah Hollywood location scouts obviously see parallels between the 2 cities.
I haven't seen 'The Lookout' but enjoyed 'You Kill Me'. as for the main character's (Ben Kingsley) house: besides the setback from the street, you'd almost swear it was Buffalo (at least from what I remember)

I was on set for both of these shoots, various peg locations, and now that posters are mentioning it the comparisons between the two are striking.

update: One of the founders of Buffalo Rising put me in touch with the Communications Director of Visit Buffalo Niagara (formerly Convention & Visitors bureau) who's going to contact his counterpart at Tourism Winnipeg.
I'm looking forward to hearing if anything will come of it!
