It's not limited to architecture, but Metropolis is one of my favorites. http://www.metropolismag.com

Metropolis, Arch Review, Arch Record, Dwell. For starters.

For non-USA mags, El Croquis is excellent, so is Japan Architect.

My Favourites:

Detail, Domus, Harvard Design Magazine, Japan Architect, Architectural Record, Canadian Architect.

Detail is excellent if you are an architect or architectural student. Don't bother if you're not in the profession. It does not have any advertisments, and therefore gets a lot of praise from architects (also for its content), but it also means the price is six times more expensive than Architectural Record. HDM and JA are also quite expensive. Domus is by far the most expensive of them all.

Right now I'm subscribed to elemente, which is a Calgary-based "alternative design magazine"...

It splits up the architectural parts between local and international, and there are usually a few renderings of local projects that I haven't seen elsewhere.

The magazine actually does a pretty good job of making Calgary look suave and sophisticated. Last summer I went to a presentation by Will Alsop at the Art Gallery of Calgary which was hosted be elemente (though I only stuck around for the speech, wasn't too keen on the auction that folllowed).

detail is the COOLEST damn thing since sliced bread. domus is really sweet too.

anyone who lives in chicago and is looking for an architectural magazine should check out prairie ave bookshop. among the greatest selection of architectural books ever, they have a great magazine section.
