I cant wait for this 800 ft crane =D

They have been dumping much of the dirt off of 26 and Jackson school rd. They are putting in a farm there, but raising it first.

Cinetopia at Progress Ridge had their grand opening this weekend. This is an amazing movie theater worth checking out. Nothing quite like it in Oregon. www.cinetopia.com
The New Seasons, along with the rest of the development, is on track to open in September.

I went to the Cinetopia in Vancouver about two years ago... I agree it was amazing. I am curious to try the Progress Ridge location! I heard they're opening one at the old Mervyns location in the Vancouver Mall.

URL: Go West! Will humble Hillsboro define Portland's future?
By Zach Dundas
Portland Monthly Mag
Published: August 2011

"...The city’s crisp planning charts tell a tale of urban aspirations, none bolder than a proposed high-density neighborhood called AmberGlen. Envisioned as a bristle of gleaming high-rise towers around a central park linked to the world by MAX and streetcar, AmberGlen could be home to 15,000 people by 2030—not exactly a Leave It to Beaver version of suburban life. “We’re moving beyond traditional development,” says city planning official Alwin Turiel. “This will push the boundaries..."

I am happy to hear Hillsboro thinking like this, for a long time now I have been confused on why none of the suburb cities in the region wanted to be Portland's Bellevue. Hillsboro seems to be the only city willing to take this kind of leap and I think it is going to position that little suburban city above the rest of them in a very short period of time.

Not sure they've figured that out yet, but they have laid out zoning plans for high density in some of the plans. The following link has some interested info on the proposed project plans.

From what I've read --

Minimum: 3 floors
Maxium: none

None as in no restrictions, or hasn't been determined?

So does Hillsboro decide on the FAR for each plot?

How does that work? Creating FAR creates additional real estate for the landowner. No?

I went to the last city meeting about this. Not much has been decided.

^ It's enormous. It dwarfs the tower cranes they have out there. I will try to get a photo this week. It's pretty close to my house.

That is an awesome pic... I hope Intel has a couple time lapse cameras that they will release after the project is complete.

My husband is an electrician at Intel and watched the big crane get built... it apparently took six weeks to build and it took 200 semi trucks to deliver all the parts. Also, at least parts of it are from the same crane that collapsed in Milwaukee back in 1999 - at least according to some of the Intel guys.

I saw the cranes from highway 26 a few weeks ago, and it was truly massive. I can't believe how large the cranes are!
