Insane:

The trident ultra-luxury tower proposal actually has 120 floors and is 516m tall!!!
Doubt it'll get built but no doubt the best-looking proposal in the marina.

^^ because they want to make the render look better. They can't be arsed doing all the research to find out what the surrounding towers will look like (sure they're not even built yet).

You missed the part where Dubai was building an exact replica of downtown Los Angeles--that's right, every tower in downtown LA replicated at 100% scale, including disney hall and the library-- just because they can.

Now, how on earth is that possible? Does anyone happen to know were there any damage to people or machines or was that hole empty when that happened?

Luckily all the workers got out. I think it was one of the supervisors who noticed the leak first and told everyone to clear out. Then the wall collapsed

First the fire on that tower u/c, now the Infinity incident - 2007 so far just hasn't been a good year for Dubai construction, has it?
I don't want to sound accusatory, but perhaps shoddy construction techniques/work has begun to catch up with some of these contractors? I hope more problems don't surface in 20, 30, or 50 years from now that require demolition of some of these buildings, or, heaven forbid, and earthquake or something. Is Dubai even in an Earthquake Zone? I know Iran is and thats just across the gulf.

WOW, That is an amazing picture! I mean amazing in a shocking way, not like "awesome! a year or so of people's hard work down the drain'.

Could be. Who knows who's fault it was. Could also be because emaar didn't waterproof the marina bed properly when they made the marina.

^^ Financing. The fact that there are no more buyers left in the luxury market.
Low cost housing is something dubai really needs to build. I recon someone could make a killing from it since that's where most of the demand is
