SLC and that parking thing.

I went downtown Friday night and took some photos from a parking garage. But then I had to go meet a girl for a movie, so I ran out of time. Anyway, didn't take a lot, but thought I'd post them anyway.

Lower skyline.

ESA and TRAX light-rail construction.

Happy to see the kid.

Pierpoint Avenue.

The old Greektown.

Look, a plane.

Warehouse District has been turned into a vibran retail and residential center.

The newly added top to one of the warehouses that was just recently converted into a loft.

Dakota Lofts.

More Pierpont Avenue.

People.

Water tower.

Grand America Hotel.

And downtown again.

And there ya' have it.

Nice photos, but man, SLC is not very photogenic. Especially downtown. Bleh.

I think SLC is VERY photogenic. It has one of the greatest natural backdrops in the world.

Nice Pics

SLC is, for the most part, quite photogenic. My advice is get away from the interstate as quickly as you can. The physical setting is GLORIOUS. If I could change one thing about SLC, it would be the weird liquor laws. I hate being in a city where you virtually have to file an affidavit to get a drink.

I like the Wells Fargo building, and it's pretty at night with that argon lighting. Are those whitish buildings in front of it condos? I remember hearing something negative about them and that they go back 15 to 20 years. SLC's older building stock is quite cool, and given its overall smaller size, more impressive than Denver's. If Utah ever gets over its Up-With-People religiosity, this would be a fantastic place to live.

I believe they were built in the late 70s and yeah, they're residential towers. The only thing negative I heard about them was that when they were building the Wells Fargo Center, residents bitched about it because it would block their views of the Wasatch Mountains.

The city told them oh well and that was the risk of living downtown.
