really beautiful, thanks for the photos. I will need to come look at these in more detail later.

In that photo with the gold statue (of the emperor?) what is the terrain layout map he is looking over?

The Tang capital city of Chang-an (today's Xi‘an) and the east capital Luoyang both have huge palaces, gardens, and government offices with well-organized layouts. Chang-an was the grandest city of the world at that time.
Its site occupied an area more than three times that of the Forbidden City.

I think he was looking at the whole city of Chang-An?

how much are these gardens and structures based on actual archaeological evidence and how much of it is extrapolation?
