Gehry designs for his favourite city

Louis Vuitton yesterday unveiled plans for an enormous £70m glass museum in Paris. If built – and the project has yet to be given planning permission – it will almost certainly be nicknamed the Cloud, although officially it would be called the Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation. The project has been commission by Bernard Arnauld, president of the luxury goods group Louis Vuitton Möet Hennessy and the richest man in France. He said the building was his personal dream and it was his mission to give the public a chance to discover art. The museum will house permanent and temporary exhibitions of contemporary and classical art and is hoped to open in 2010 at the latest.

-First I am for modern buildings in "historic" area.
-Secondly it is next to Jussieux university. an ugly 60's 70's complex with an (that's right very well renovated) high-rise.

This office building will improve the district more than anything else, I would love see more in central Paris (1st to 11th arrondissements), of course not too much but still more than nowaday.

I agree with Minato Ku, a well designed new building does go well in the old-school urban cores. I wouldn't put 'em in the most genuine historic district(s), but it's not like the whole city is a museum...

Not yet but the last time I was close (the last week) most was done.
There is a large scaffolding around the building, so it is difficult to see how it is.
Anyway I will take some pictures tomorrow.

EDIT : This is how was the building in April.

dear minato ku ! my dream would be seeing pictures of the champs elysées because you have always buildings under renovation on this prestigious avenue.the 90 avenue des champs elysees is under renovation by H&M Jean Nouvel, the old drugstore matignon will be a new store for fiat and alfa romeo.
than you have avenue FRIEDLAND not far from the CHAMPS a building of Manuelle Gautrand in progress :

i give you others ideas :
please take pictures everywhere around paris in front of the boulevard peripherique, this freeway has so much works in progress : porte de vanves and des lilas, montreuil, bagnolet, paris 15ème tour serres, tour mozart and around, MILLENAIRE AUBERVILLIERS, porte de charenton, .........
WELL I THINK YOU HAVE A GREAT WORK TO REALIZE THANKS LOL MDR.

This is Tour Tozart (I took it, the last week)

About H&M in the Champs Elysees, the scaffolding hides everything. Anyway the real change will be inside the store and not the facade.
