What a beautiful city.

I can't help but think San Francisco got ripped off with Salesforce, this tower in Santiago looks a million times better.

Yes the Costanera skyscraper is gorgeous both outside and inside.

Inside there is
-a fancy observation desk where you can see spectacular sunsets
-a shopping mall
-a whole floor dedicated to fancy restaurants
-a huge supermarket on the ground floor called Jumbo which is one of the most sophisticated supermarket I have ever seen anywhere

Why isn't this city more well known or discussed? It seems extremely dense and urban.

Seconded, this place looks amazing. Great pics and thanks for sharing!

Reminds me of a Japanese city from the air, with European-quality detailing on the ground.

Good question. Maybe it's overshadowed by other South American cities and countries? Santiago certainly looks gorgeous.

Great pics, pallo!

Is there a particular reason why Chile is considered a third world country? I guess low GDP compared to population size would explain it though.

^ there are plenty of references to that, but this quora general blurb in rather noteworthy:

Bearing in mind that since the 1990’s the 1st, 2nd, 3rd World designations are no longer really applicable in the modern context, and that all 2nd World countries were Communist, it’s difficult to classify these out-dated terms in a modern context towards nations such as Chile, which have experienced major development only comparitively recently.

I don't think it is, actually. It's actually renowned for being the most stable, developed and westernized Latin American country of them all, perhaps with the exception of Uruguay.

I think a main issue with the US is they tend to disparage anything outside their own borders as 'Third World', which from their mouths is very derogatory whereas it normally arouses empathy and mercy to someone who's not a creepy psychopath.

The English-speaking world is definitely overly competitive. I got to look like the best and the all-time winner, whatever it takes. That's still the basics of their culture. No matter what they say, the ultimate goal in their way of communicating is to make you think that they are luckier than you. It's not only sinful, it's also hilariously inelegant, arrogant and simply untrue.

The English language is very convenient when it comes to programming machines. The colloquial grammar of it is simple enough to be both easily used to compilers and comprehensive to humans. I like it a lot for that. It's truly great as simple things are usually the best.

They just should grow a bit more natural, open-minded and simple in their daily behaviors too, and a bit less competitive or hypocritical to outsiders or foreigners. Then they would cause much less of useless harm to the world.

^ as stated above, in english btw, the worthiness of the term third world died with the end of the cold war. perhaps your stereotypes should take the hint.

Héhéhéhé... Another keyword in English is "pressure".
That's some pressure on you, man.
