BTW, you are correct. the mass and scaling are strikingly similar. While the overall look is different, it's apparent to most what you meant.

Some just like snark for snark's sake.
I don't see any snark remarks. Texboy said the buildings have a similar look and I had no idea what the Amegy Bank building was going to look like. So I searched and looked at rendering of the Amegy Bank building and I didn't see similar designs at all. I made no mention of scale. Looks like the two buildings will have very different street level interaction also.

I welcome all discussion and was just responding to a comment about design.

He said "somewhat" <<<that word matters, similar look, but his main contention was scale and mass, (and possibly glass). Hard to argue with that.

That said, I look forward to the groundbreaking.

Looks like Frost is almost done moving their motor bank over to the Martin/Main/Soledad corner. Maybe once that's complete we'll start to see some site prep over at the tower.

It has to go before the HDRC again concerning the base's final design. So it'll be a couple of months or so.

It's what we've been saying all along. We're getting another stump. Obviously we're going to have to incentivize a company to relocate here and build something worth while because none of our home-grown companies have shown any fortitude. That said, we threw billions in incentives at Tesla and they turned us down....

I appreciate the architecture design of this tower. It may not have much height but it's a great project nonetheless.

I didn't get a recent downgrade -386' has been the planned height for a long time. Here's a link to the building info from a July 2016 HDRC meeting:

It's a great looking building. I think so many people are disappointed simply because the the initial speculation about the building's height created false expectations.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I love the design....but IMO, I think it would've been great to have seen this project as SA tallest

I went to the San Pedro Creek ground breaking ceremony a few months back.
Even former mayor Nelson Wolf was all excited saying, the creek project wonderful, right over there Frost Bank is going to build the biggest tower this city has ever seen!!!! I was like, uuuh its 30 stories. Wrong!

IMO humbly, it's time to let go of the "height" of the building people.
It is going to be a great, beautiful building during the day, and a spectacular building at night, regardless of the height.

^^^ Yes yes, I just hold on to what could have been, i'm not mad at all.

I'm still SUPER excited for what we are getting. I'm so ready for a taller all glass tower downtown. The usaa building is cute, but we are finally getting a big boy.

I'm not a fan of all glass just for the sake of being all glass. Quite the opposite actually; it needs a really good design for me to like it if it's all glass. This one does. Too bad about the height, but it will still be a cool building.
