Podium sucks, but the subtle concave design on each side is magnificent.

I don't see anything nice in that picture. This new build can't come soon enough.

I used to not like the CN Tower much, but it really grew on me as I learned to appreciate modernism and the little details that make it special.

There's one thing about the CN Tower in Edmonton - you either love it or you hate it. In addition to those who love it, there are probably quite a few Edmontonians who don't like it.

Frankly, I've always quite liked the CN Tower. Actually a bit better than the Epcor tower, which, while modern, looks squat and fat (you can thank the NAVCAN overlay when it was built for that).

I love it.....

Worked for a glass company years ago. Had the contract for glazing replacement for CN tower and a hand full of other towers downtown. It was awesome to be in that building and on a swing stage.

Wow, three cities on this list now? I must have been gone a long time. I don't know if there's been three cities in this country with towers over 200 meters UC at the same time in the last decade or more even. Looking forward to seeing Telus Sky being added to the list in short order.

Hearing Stantec height has increased to 70 stories/252m, plus crown.

What amazes me about both these Edmonton projects is how out-of-the-blue they seem. Most 200+ metre projects go through years of design, planning and sales before starting construction. I was aware that there were large towers planned around the arena district but I hadn't heard any details about their design or heights up until a few months ago, and now they're already digging.

This was ^in planning for a while now, just not nailed down as to what who where. Additionally, they need to dig a 4-5 storey city block squared ug parkade which means a footings and foundation permit only so far. Over the next year designs, plans, approvals, design committee, consultations will be done. Just a different process, not all that overnight.
