Looks like I was right about the overpass leading directly into the parking. Here is the proposed layout (including widening of the overpass).
http://www.quaysideboard.com/oldsite...rpass_0608.pdf

Here are some photos that I took today:

Overview of the site from the Skytrain Station - significant activity on the middle part of the lot now.

Looks like they are demolishing the old Salvation Army even further. Looks like only the walls will be left in the end (with some of the upper walls taken out, probably to join to other structures). Safeway will be on the top level, and Shoppers Drug Mart will be on the bottom level.

Scaffolding is going up around the Salvation Army building on the Skytrain side, perhaps preparing for integration?

Showing how the concrete is sloped with the overpass and how the rebar only extends to where the walls will go (allowing space for connection to the overpass). Bonus: My finger!

Showing the height now (time for the cinema levels!).

West side of the site, looking East at all of the work going on:

Showing how high the structure is getting relative to the Skytrain Track - there should be at least one more level above this, I believe.

Also, I found this document on another website that lists the stores that are going in. As of the publishing of that document (unknown), there will be:
-10 screen Landmark Cinemas theatre
-Safeway
-RBC
-CIBC
-Subway
-Extreme Pita
-Megabite
-Liquor Store (probably a relocation of the 57 below liquor store)
-A store that looks like it is called "Logo" (anybody know what this is?)
-A&W
-Bread Garden
-Shoppers Drug Mart
-International News

It seems like every new development has an A&W.

Which nearby half empty recently renovated shopping place are you talking about?

I believe it would be this one: http://maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&ie=...04136&t=h&z=18 with the IGA marketplace.

Yes, Columbia Square is quite empty. However, they are doing some minor renovations that should attract some new tenants. There are 3 empty units in the new part (1 is leased) and maybe 8 empty units in the old part, with a few stores closing down in the past 6 months and a few opening (dental, fabricland, and another). Stupid suburban-style strip malls.

I think this one will do well, simply because of the connection with the skytrain.

The Quay has been shut down for over a year now. It is scheduled to reopen in the next month or so (Summer 2010). Exterior renovations are taking place right now, and should probably almost be completed.

I'm getting excited!!

As for the Quay, yes it's been renamed "River Market", which is pretty generic *blah*. The entire roof has been replaced (it used to be green but now its aluminum).

I'm hoping the put the big Q back up, right now there is nothing at the top of the yellow tower near the tin man

As for the other little mall, they have TD Canada Trust/Bank of Montreal, IGA and a BC Liquor store which always pulls traffic in.

Here's a pic I took on Saturday, when they were lifting some oversized mechanical units into the structure. You can see them in position in Sporks previous images. Does anyone know what they are? HVAC? Water Boilers? Generators?

They just finished pouring the floor in the photos earlier in the thread yesterday (working at 6:00pm), so photos would be useless, but all in all, they are work at a good pace on this. Expect more photos when the next level of risers go up - the next few floors should be REALLY interesting!
