Well I'm very sorry I couldn't impress you Dleung, but yes the Sears buyout was what I was referring to, as I have mentioned more than once.

surprising to see Vancouver take first and third place!"

Vancouver can absolutely support another high end department store.
it was mentioned in some articles when nordstorm was looking into vancouver and canada and it showed that nordstrom does good with online shopping in canada with Vancouver being it biggest customer base, so they know where to set up shop

Heard from reliable source that Cadillac will convert the top four floors to office space (300,000 sq ft) with new atrium in centre. Bottom two floors and mall level will remain retail. Entire building will be re-clad with (mostly) glass. Will take 18-24 months from Sears leaving.

Hopefully they can make the Granville street side interact with the street while they reclad the building and re-layout the interior. As much as I dislike how the building looks, I absolutely hate how it kills an entire block of Granville.

I know! I have always hated that!

I hope they put up some good signage and lights along the Granville side as well and especially at the Granville / Robson corner, akin to Future Shop. Best location in the city for such features.

While that's far from a dream proposal, considering the decades of blight...we'll take it!

Images come to mind of The Crystal Court in Minneapolis. If some aspect of that could be incorporated, it might make it even better.

So the hopes/wishes for a new tower are not in the cards, it would seem.

Those will be honking big floorplates, and I'm guessing that demising will not be cost-effective below a relatively large minimum square footage.

Be interesting to see who their target market will be.

The atrium should make the centre opf the building tolerable for office tenants.
Given proximity to the Law Courts, I could even see a law firm moving in there.

I was speaking with a sales clerk in the mall who attanded a Pacific Centre tenant meeting (not wearing an orange vest) and apparently, the demolition with replacement by a podium and office tower option is still on the table.

If that's the case then hopefully its not going to take 10 years, as part of this second cycle of office buildings I keep hearing about. Or would it get special treatment because of its prominent location?

If they do that then I hope they go all out and make real office tower.

A tower on the site is not currently planned.

Things can change but it is not an option at this current point in time.

I assume you understand that I cannot disclose everything about this project but I can assure you my information is up to date as of this very minute.

Any idea when we might see any renders? This project is probably the one I'm most excited for.

This is a huge piece of property. Reminds me of Woodwards. I'm willing to bet something big happens here. No tower? I don't think so.
