Wow, that is really awesome how they are working on this building. BTW what a good looking tower, i really like the colors and design. Very nice, what a great addition...
I generally like this one. But what's with the nautical looking red ventilation funnels near the entrance? How many knots do they expect this building to make?
So are they leaving the top portion of that building being demolished and incorporating that into the new tower? Or is that too to be demolished? Is so, why would they do that? It seems like more work..
That said, this is a very interesting building, I especially like the open lobby/plaza at the base, it makes it seem friendly and spacious.
...are they demolishing a building from the ground up?
It looks like it. Ive never seen that done before. Interesting. I wonder what benefits this allows for. Perhaps starting the foundation a little earliar than if you had to wait for the whole building to come down.
But a debit seems that building that platform to hold the building up cant be a cheap way to demolish a building.
Man I love Richard Rogers. I also like the fact that this building will be going in right near one of his former buildings. Good luck for me, Richard Rogers just designed a new building for Washington D.C.
I find the front color scheme is lame... blue red white, pfff... will that be a light effect (ie will change according time, weather, mood, whatever) or are they paintings (can be changed but not that often) ?
except colors, the general shape is really interesting and by interesting i mean great. and last but not least it wonderfully fits with st mary axe on the renderings, a great job... london rocks.
I was getting rather skeptical about these proposals in London (including 122 Leadengall)... but now if this is really going ahead (which, it seems, it does) it's like a dream coming true. That's without a doubt to become my personal favourite in Europe (of course, before LBT gets built).
for me the front is on the plaza and the rear on the street, but i happen to have a biased logic sometimes
ligths then, that sounds good, colors will be easely switchable. add a touch of taste to it, and the plaza will be gorgeous.
