There are a lot more residential options and amenities near it.
I agree as far exciting neighborhoods and blocks go 1010 common is just in a much more exicitng area... the superdome area is still very 80s like and dead outside of 9-5 hours... sure there are more events in the area but still you have to walk blocks to find anything to do really.

My initial guess was 1515 Poydras since it has over 100k of contiguous square feet available currently. The same management company (Jones Lang Lasalle) also runs 1555 Poydras, so I could see some of the 1515 tenants being moved to 1555. 1615 Poydras is managed by Stirling Properties. I also forsee leases not being renewed once they expire for other tenants to make room for DXC in either 1515 or 1555. Those tenants would then have to find a new space at other existing CBD office buildings.

The shuffling of existing tenants at 1515 Poydras to 1555 Poydras would put both JLL managed buildings at 100% occupancy. This deal is knocking out close to 30% of the available Class A office space in the CBD, and this will greatly impact the market over the coming years.

1515 Poydras has 150,215 square feet of space available currently. 114,103 square feet of that is contiguous on floors 13-20.

1555 Poydras has 79,145 square feet of space available currently. 58,218 square feet of that is contiguous on floors 17-21.

1615 Poydras (just to throw it in) has 74,056 square feet of space available currently. 45,130 feet of that is contiguous on floors 14-15.

It seems like the way downtown is going, a new office tower/mixed use makes sense too, is inevitable, especially after they move in.

Certainly a repositioning of 1010 common will make sense at that point.. perhaps even a We Work office location in Nola

They recently opened a nice, high end fitness center on the ground floor of 1010 Common, around the corner from Charles Schwab. It's in the space occupied by several restaurants in the past.

Nice to see that building on Chef getting redeveloped. I think the old Holiday Inn right by I-10 needs to be torn down at this point. The graffiti on it is pretty impressive though.

Great video of the streetcar work at Canal and City Park.

Where is all the traffic routed since construction began?

Wow, I didn't know about that Julia St project. That's a really big footprint. Surprised the HDLC let them tear down the warehouse buildings on the lakeside of the block, but they made them preserve the little carriage house mid-block lol. Looks like the carriage house will be developed as a little retail space with a little Pirates Alley leading to to the residential entrance. Good spot for a cute lil grab-n-go coffee shop with outdoor seating like Pickwick Place in Chicago.

Also: apparently Poydras Home has owned this property since 1817, and will continue to own the property (development is done via ground lease). I love when development history unfolds over centuries like this.

its mostly been just advertising to avoid the area completely. seems to have worked well enough and the project was finished much quicker

To re-list the major, recent developments that are planned/ being constructed around the Canal/Claiborne intersection, we have:

-The Jung Hotel/Residences (113 apartments; 207 hotel rooms; 357 parking spaces; 14k ground floor retail)

-Canal Crossing (330 apartments; 500 parking spaces)

-Renovated B Hotel (157 rooms; restaurant & bar)

-Dual-brand SpringHill Suites (74 rooms) and TownePlace Suites (105 rooms)

-1630 Canal Hotel (224 rooms; 127 parking spaces)

-1717 Canal Apartments (212 units)

-Bienville/Basin (Formerly Iberville) Housing Project

-Future street market underneath Claiborne overpass.

Does anyone have an update on 1717 Canal? It seems to have gotten all of its permits and approvals recently.

Hey tennis,

Saw on your blog they're getting everything lined up to start work on 1009 Camp Street. Is there any new information about what they'll turn it into? That location is tough with the traffic pattern/merging lanes right there, but that location is prime stuff now.
