Arrow BELLEVUE | Lincoln Square Expansion (W Bellevue Hotel) | 450 & FT | 42 & 31 FLOORS

Bellevue’s Lincoln Square to have a W Hotel

Kemper Development announced Monday that W Hotels will operate a 245-room upscale hotel opening in spring 2017 as part of the $1.2 billion Bellevue Collection expansion.

Quote:
W Hotels will open a 245-room, upscale hotel at Bellevue’s Lincoln Square in spring 2017, Kemper Development officials said Monday.

The W, a brand of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, will occupy the first 13 stories of the 41-story tower and employ between 150 and 200 people, officials said. Kemper is already preleasing 231 apartments on the next 28 floors.

The hotel tower and an adjacent office tower will rise 450 feet and sit on a podium of 180,000 square feet of retail as part of the $1.2 billion expansion of what Kemper Development calls The Bellevue Collection. The Lincoln Square expansion is happening along Bellevue Way between Northeast Fourth Street and Northeast Sixth Street in downtown Bellevue.

Monday’s announcement gives the Seattle metro area its second W Hotel, on par with Los Angeles and one shy of Atlanta. The 424-room W Seattle opened at 1112 Fourth Ave. in 1999, when dot-coms were riding high.

This two-tower project has been underway since last year. The new part is that the hotel operator is now named.

The website shows Bellevue's growing 450' flat top. They're also considering options to raise the height limits. Might see 600' zoning soon.

Great renderings here, including the two smaller towers that haven't started yet. http://lincolnsquareexpansion.com/photogallery/?gx=10

Some zoning would be great. 400-450' seems to be the norm for the region. Some great designs at those heights, but they could and should be taller. Got to give the architects credit, they know how to make a 450 footer a stunner whether is Bellevue or Seattle.

In nyc we get Kaufman designs that approach that height usually weekly being revealed, but anytime he designs it a hotel it looks like a crayon.

Seattle used to have a lot of 240' zoning on the Downtown fringes, and we still do in some areas. But now we have a lot of 400 (440' for residential crowns) and 500 (550' for residential crowns) in some of those areas, and still a lot of 240'. Thankfully some 550' residential/mixed projects are coming too. Plus of course plenty of 500' office buildings and one hotel. And some office or mixed buildings in the unlimited zone.

W Bellevue Hotel Reveals Interior Renderings

Quote:
The W Bellevue Hotel plans to open June 2017, according to the Starwood website. The website has posted renderings of what the hotel’s stylish interior will look like.

Once complete the hotel will offer 220 guest rooms and 25 suites. The guest rooms will offer vibrant décor, state-of-the-art technology, in-room entertainment on the in-room 43-inch TVs, and city and lake views.

In addition to the in-room amenities the hotel will offer 10,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including the Great Room, six Studios, and two Strategy Rooms.

Nordstrom plans Rack store in Bellevue’s Lincoln Square expansion

Quote:
Nordstrom plans to open a Nordstrom Rack location in the Lincoln Square expansion in Bellevue, close to the full-line Nordstrom store at Bellevue Square.

The 43,000-square-foot Nordstrom Rack is scheduled to open in fall 2017, according to a news release.

It will be the second Nordstrom Rack in Bellevue — the other is in Factoria Mall — and the eighth in Western Washington, counting the one opening in fall 2017 at The Village at Totem Lake in Kirkland.

The new Rack store will be in the $1.2 billion, 1.5 million-square-foot expansion that will also include a W Hotel, luxury apartments, an office tower, retail, restaurants, a cinema and parking.

Lincoln Square is part of Kemper Development Company’s The Bellevue Collection, which also includes Bellevue Square and Bellevue Place.

“We know that many of our best Rack stores are those near our full-line locations, and we’ve long been looking for the right space near Nordstrom Bellevue Square,” Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack, said in the news release.

Sales at Nordstrom Rack, the company’s off-price stores, have fared better this year than at its full-line counterpart. In its most recent quarter, sales at Rack locations open at least a year were up 0.9 percent, while they were down 4.5 percent in the full-line stores.

The one on the right reminds me a lot of Austin's W Hotel and Residences.
