This. Tour Montparnasse is a great example of a tower for the time in which it was built. They need to leave the exterior largely alone. It's vertical lines are beautiful and what makes it.

It's not only about how things look, but also how they work. The cladding of that tower is outdated and must be changed. Even old stone has to be replaced from time to time.

Guess they could've picked something that would be true to the original design and look the same, if it hadn't been disparaged by a majority of locals.

^ There are still some holes to fill in along the sidewalk on the right, and unfortunately, the feet of older towers remain anti-urban.

Otherwise, it's potentially massive. Alto and M2/Saint-Gobain (U/C on the left, 1st pic) are so important to complete the ridiculous density along. Trinity is also major to enhance the urban feel a few hundreds yards farther.

This is likely to be the biggest high-rise boulevard over the continent. I assume it's going to be walled all along like a massive canyon.

Approved in Saint-Denis!

Nice change from the generic campuses in the foreground.

The white tower on the right is tour Pleyel, built 1972. It might be refurbished on that occasion.

I think Saint-Denis's supposed to host the Olympic village in 2024, that's a great opportunity for the locals of the surrounding municipalities.

Large project here. They're talking about 200k m2 in all, over 2 million sq. Hopefully all of this is mixed-use and done by then.
6 long years to make it, the local economy's doing slightly better right now... Yeah, we surely can afford that over there.

^ They're advertising the project by a video, too.

Video Link

Seems fairly ambitious and mixed-use.
There's a bit of everything in the contents.
Housing, including some for students, offices, hotels, retail, sport and entertainment facilities.

The neighborhood will be well served by the transit network.

I like the smaller building. What does AVA Tower look like now?

It's not a tower actually... It's some shitty empty building which was supposed to become a tower.... But that one, unfortunately, didn't make it.

PARIS BATTLES TO CASH IN FROM BREXIT : "I THINK WE CAN GAIN 10.000 JOBS"

Angélique Chrisafis

The Guardian

11/14/2017

Amid the gleaming glass towers of Paris’s La Défense business district, cranes dot the skyline as drills clatter away on the building sites of future skyscrapers and acres of new office space. Marie-Célie Guillaume proudly walks the route of the guided tours she gives to companies drawing up Brexit contingency plans and considering moving jobs from London to France after the UK leaves the European Union.

[...]

La Défense, Europe’s largest business district, happens to be in a building boom just as Paris itself races to construct new office buildings amid a massive extension of the public transport system. The business district is ready with hundreds of thousands of square metres of comparatively cheap office space for any company that might decide to relocate staff from London, particularly if Brexit means the loss of London’s “passporting rights”, which allow international financial firms access to EU markets.

[...]

Paris has markedly stepped up its pace in the race among European cities to corner the “Brexit relocation” sector. That has been noted by the chief executive of Goldman Sachs, Lloyd Blankfein, who praised Paris pointedly in a tweet on Tuesday - raising specualtion that the city could benefit from changes to the bank’s London operations after Brexit.

[...]

Valérie Pécresse, the head of the Île de France region that surrounds Paris said: “French Labour laws have been reformed and the wealth tax has been transformed. So the message is that France is reformable and there is a new state of mind. I think a lot of positive messages have been sent and there is not a single person left in the City of London who thinks France is the enemy of finance.”

According to the professionnal services firm, La Défense is the world's 4th most powerful business center behind the city of London, Midtown NY and Marunouchi in Tokyo. It is also Europe's second most powerful business center, before Frankfurt and Amsterdam.

This study was based on :

- Capacity to attract and win companies' loyalty
- Urban life quality
- Markets, clients and partners' proximity
- Local and international influence
- Quality and quantity of the real estate market offers

Now with HSBC bringing back 1000 people, Bank of America, Citigroup, Morgan Chase...Etc all planning on moving to Paris after brexit it'll only get better and better !

Hi.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint-Augustin,_Paris

Meh. There's a load of Roman Catholic buildings like this in town.

I agree with the Franciscans. The Roman church is still far too wealthy, which is an evidence of its flaws.
When you're supposed to advertise Jesus, you need to be fair.
So they should give most of what they have to contemporary development and technology instead of paying for 5000 sq ft luxury suites downright in the very center of Rome to spoil their suspect greedy archbishops and cardinals. I think the current pope would agree on that point, then he's got some fierce enemies.

When I was in the Central City, this was the nearby church of the social-democratic neighborhood.

it's more humble, even a bit decaying. Some statues are broken, which is disturbing and annoying.
But at least, the homeless gets some help there. The best would even be to teach them about hope.

What 10k jobs? Laughable. We're like 67 million starving people over the Republic!

Hopefully, these are 10k guys of the financial industry that would be enlightened and wise, so they have big balls to take risk and know where to allocate money, to make more and more tomorrow.

I'm sure you're aware of the related news, the European Banking Authority's moving to Paris. They're going to the historic stock exchange district.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Bourse

They'll be fine over there; that sounds exciting, though we're only earning it from a stupid draw against Dublin.
Wait, a draw? Are they kidding us? Frankfurt was disqualified anyway. Dublin and Paris were the 2 in final, then they would have to draw like idiots.
