I remember seeing an earlier version of this proposal, where the zig-zag feature was a bit more legit than just glue-on walls over a regular box.

I like the design and the fact that there will be some nightlife under it! even if it is aimed for the "baby boomers". It will bring down a different crowd.

What do you mean by "glue-on" walls?

It looks like the boxes will be cast in place concrete and will support the balconies (a bit like the concrete walls at Jameson House that support the curved fingers).

^^I mean the zig-zag is purely cosmetic. The massing behind it does not shift at all... see how the glass line goes straight down all the floors. It's just a dumb box.

dleung I'm pretty sure the zigzag features are actually balconies.

ROFL obviously. But the building VOLUME behind is is perfectly flat. Earlier renders show a staggered-box design. Now it's staggered balconies on a single flat box. I was never excited about the original design, but even then I knew that what was at least a "different" idea for Vancouver would never survive the DP stage without being completely neutered.

Ohh i see, you are saying the original "jenga style" building has been modified.

Yeah you are right it definitely has been changed too a standard building with think protrusions, as opposed to completely different floorplates the whole way up... I personally like this new style more tho, it just looks more like a finished product imo.

They max out at 890 square feet? How quaint...

What to do with so much space!

IT BEGINS

But really, today I noticed scaffolding and a modest workforce of people either dismantling or prepping the building for demolition/deconstruction. The whole south side wall is gone and covered with a tarp

I was in the bus passing by it on Granville street bridge yet it was moving too fast for me to take a decent photo so for the visual benefit of you all I drew it instead.
