NIGHTSKY'S TRAVELS 2016
The year that just past, 2016, was my best travel year so far. It was beyond my imagination. It started in February with a 11 days in Spain, where we rented a car (a nice Ford Focus). The region we visited was the Costa Blanca, Valencia and Murcia in the southeast part of the country. Valencia, Murcia, Alicante, and Benidorm were the main goals of this trip, while we made day trip to places like Calpe and Elche. We also made short stops in the small cities Villajoyosa and Altea, and a great half daytrip to the beautiful caves of Cuevas de Canelobre.
In June we flew to Toronto, Canada’s largest city (via London), where we stayed for six days, including a daytrip to the amazing Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-lake. After that we flew to Chicago, USA:s 3rd largest city. Here we stayed for six days.
In August we headed to a more unusal trip; this was the first time in Central America, or any Latin American country for me. Thanks to friends and relatives of my girlfriend we stayed for 20 days in El Salvador, including 3 days in Guatemala City (Central America’s city and the capital of Guatemala), 2 half day long stopovers in Madrid and a switch of planes in the airport of San José, Costa Rica. This was one of the two longest flights I ever made. The main focus was the capital, San Salvador, where we stayed, and made day trips to the beautiful surrounding nature like Ruta de las Flores, beaches of Costa del Sol, the maya ruins of Tazumal, the impressive San Salvador Volcano, the thermal baths of Santa Teresa and the second city, Santa Ana.
