The city of Niagara Falls is 83 000, but it is part of the Niagara Region - 400 000, so I'm not sure how to classify that exactly. But for a city of less than 100 000 to have the only tower in Ontario (besides the GTA) over 500 feet is rather impressive. I live in the Falls, and the different cities in the region all seem like separate cities to me. And if there is any construction starting on any of these towers I'll certainly report it. And post pix.

I don't understand why Niagara Falls should be in this list.

Its near the top of the top 25 list and I have much hope that many of the towers will be under construction soon.

I didn't include the Ottawa office tower because its height is obviously uncertain. It isn't even in the database.
Thanks!

So koops, I trust your judgement more than most on this forum. Do these seemingly fanciful renders actually have a chance?

They are firm proposals. The chances of them being built shouldn't matter particularily when the Edmontonian is on the list.

I had a hard enough time including the Burnaby village-style high rises on this list. It's such a shame to have to include these, but I'll do it for the sake of the name, since even though I asked a mod to change it to Golden Horseshoe, they wouldn't.

Your guess is as good as mine. One thing that I can say with confidence is that as long as the tourists keep coming there will be demand for hotel rooms with a good view of the falls. I just drove by the site of the twin tower Michael's Inn proposal, which is only 3 blocks from where I live, and I saw no signs of site prep. The link MeIsThomas posted is 1 1/2 years old already. But like I said, if or when there is movement here I'll report it.

Updated list on the first page. The height of proposals has dropped substantially over the last 8 months. The previous #25 was 137 meters, the current #25's are only 118 meters.

Part of the reason for this is that many of the taller towers that were on the list have started construction.

It is doubtful the Edmontonian will ever be built, at least in its current proposed form.

A few more projects coming down the pipes for Edmonton. No official heights yet but they would likely make the list as it currently is.

Jasper House Condo, 135m estimate:

North, 145m estimate:

They will definitely be noticeable in Edmonton, especially given their locations. Reputable developer, very good chance they will be built. Also, two surface parking lots gone.

I used the SSP database to come to the conclusions of my update. I'll update it again once official heights are presented.

Also, the developer of the Edmonton proposals is hardly reputable. Brad Lambs Calgary project Sixth and Ten is at 80% sales and is still 2 years overdue for construction to start. Just yesterday, he laughably stated that his 2nd Calgary proposal, the Orchard Twin Towers, will begin construction by the end of this year. Not going to happen.

HA, well I guess 'reputable' is relative. My point is that BCM have never built anything but 4-5 story punched-window boxes and their first ever tower project has been stalled after excavation for 6 months now.

Both Lamb and Fortress have been involved in dozens of delivered projects. There's nothing to suggest 6th and 10th won't proceed despite the delays. Orchard should move quicker if they have learned anything from planning and sellng 6th and 10th.

Brad Lamb is serious - Fortress also, if anything it's local contractor inexperience or lack of qualified local contractors and equipment holding things up.
